SIBIU – AREA PARADOXES
The city was attested since 1223, being a Saxon fortress for a long time. It is located in the centre of Romania, the southern part of Transylvania, in a enviable position. It is very close to the Carpathian mountains, to Transylvanian hills and plateaus and Fagaras and Cibin plateaus. In 2007 Sibiu was chosen the European Capital of Culture, which led the area to an unknown economical and touristic development.
Sibiu is an off-road paradise. Nowhere else you can find the differences between urban and rural areas as they are here – creating thus touristic opportunities.
Imagine that you arrive in Sibiu, a city comparable with Western countries cities, where you can find everything you need - from culture and history to nightlife and restaurants, top services for those who travel by car, a dreamscape and wonderful people. After 10 km outside the city, in the mountains area, you enter a dreamscape where the modern facilities are very little or none, an area that can be called ‘the largest open air museum’.
